Volunteers
Bellarine Bayside warmly welcomes all who want to assist with the ongoing hands on management of the coastal and foreshore environments.

The Friends of Pt Richards Flora & Fauna Reserve help protect and restore the biodiversity of this 66 ha. The reserve has important ephemeral wetlands, the nationally ‘vulnerable’ Growling Grass Frog and a wide diversity of Coastal woodland and wetland bird species. There is no other reserve like it on the Bellarine.
The Friends meet every Tuesday morning at 10am for a 2 hour working bee. They meet at the walking track entrance off Pt Richards Rd, Portarlington. If you would like to be actively involved in the conservation of Pt Richards Flora and Fauna Reserve, call Bellarine Bayside on 03 5259 3311 with your name, address and phone number and you will be contacted by Steve to discuss and arrange for you to join this group.

Bellarine Bayside is looking to facilitate and assist the formation of a number of Coast action /Coastcare groups at Portarlington, Indented Heads and St Leonards.
These groups will enable motivated locals to help protect and restore the foreshore. If anyone is interested contact Steve Smithyman at Bellarine Bayside on 03 5259 3311 during office hours.
Volunteer Information
CULTURAL HERITAGE/ARCHAEOLOGY
Bellarine Bayside would like to hear from members of the community who are interested in participating in a cultural heritage archaeological activity. Bellarine Bayside want to involve volunteers in a guided and closely monitored activity of sieving a moderately large amount of soil (approximately 30 cubic meters) that will contain cultural heritage items.
This is an opportunity for community members to gain a better understanding of the cultural heritage along the Northern Bellarine coast, and be physically involved in the collection and recording of artifacts. The activity will be located at Indented Head over a number of days within the next month (September). Bellarine Bayside will provide on-site workplace induction and training – no experience necessary, but you must be of reasonable physical fitness and mobile as you will be on a work-site.
If you are interested in participating for either a half day or more, please contact Bellarine Bayside on 5259 3311 to register and for more details.
