Bellarine Bayside Foreshore Committee of Management (Bellarine Bayside) is the appointed land manager for 17km of coastal Crown land reserves on the northern Bellarine Peninsula from Point Richards in Portarlington to Beach Road in St Leonards.

Bellarine Bayside's mission is to, in partnership with local community groups and residents, sustainably protect, restore and enhance the northern Bellarine natural and built coastal environment for the benefit and enjoyment of local communities and holidaymakers.

Bellarine Bayside is in the process of reviewing its current Foreshore Plan (this includes The Northern Bellarine Foreshore Plan 2012 and Master Plan 2013) to create a new Coastal and Marine Management Plan (CMMP) in accordance with the Marine and Coastal Act 2018. The CMMP will provide a guiding framework to direct management of coastal reserves on the northern Bellarine over the next five years. The CMMP will describe strategic priorities, outcomes, initiatives and programs, as well as inform secondary precinct and master plans to be developed or reviewed over the life of the CMMP.

The renewal of Bellarine Bayside’s CMMP will include a significant community and stakeholder consultation process. Community and stakeholder consultation is an important aspect of the process to allow Bellarine Bayside to understand what the community value along the coast, challenges the community think the coastline faces, as well as proposed solutions to these challenges and the direction the community believes Bellarine Bayside should take in the management of the foreshore.

The first step to the consultation process involves the release of a Discussion Paper and survey to seek views of stakeholders and the community. Some options for action are listed throughout the Discussion Paper, however we want to know what matters to you and how you think Bellarine Bayside can manage the foreshore in this regard.

Have your say
The Discussion Paper and related survey are open for community input from Monday 8 April 2019 until 5pm on Sunday 12 May 2019.

The Discussion Paper can be downloaded here.

You can provide your input through completing our ‘Future of the northern Bellarine foreshore’ survey which can be completed online at:
