Apart from fishing and swimming in the beautiful Bay, there are activities all over the Bellarine Peninsula for the kids to enjoy!

The magic and charm of the Portarlington Bayside Miniature Railway has brought enjoyment and fun to a generation of families over many years since the first operated public running day in January 1999. Located at Point Richards, it is Australia's only miniature railway located on a foreshore.

Looking to explore locally? Take a stroll through the Point Richards Flora & Fauna Reserve. Download a copy of our walking map - Point Richards Walks-  or our Kids Activity Booklet - Point Richards Activity Booklet - and see what plants and animals you can find.

Explore further and take a walk or ride your bike on our spectacular Coastal Trail. Conecting Point Richards in Portarlington right through to Edwards Point in St Leonards, the trail passes through a number of environments with interpretive signage at key locations along the way.

The Bellarine Nature Cadets runs after school for 6 weeks each spring and autumn. A joint initiative between Bellarine Bayside and Portarlington Neighbourhood House, the cadets is fun for all ages to learn about the local environment through hands-on activities. A variety of activities are offered; activities in past programs have included fishing, bushwalking, beachcombing and enviro craft to facilitate your cadet’s learning. All ages are welcome; cadets must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. For more information, please contact Jane on 5254 4010 or [email protected].

Another great local attraction to consider, especially on a rainy day, is the Marine and Freshwater Discovery Centre at Queenscliff.
