Public facility closures

Following the latest Victorian Government advice, and to help reduce the risk of infection and slow the spread of coronavirus in our communities, we have decided to keep access to a range of public facilities closed until further notice.

Closures apply until further notice for the following public facilities along the foreshore between Portarlington and St Leonards:

  • All BBQs
  • All drinking fountains
  • All outdoor showers

We have closed a number of toilet blocks along the foreshore. We have done so in close consultation with the City of Greater Geelong to ensure there are public amenities available in each town.

Following government directive, we have also closed vehicle access to four of our five seasonal camp grounds to clearly indicate their closure and prevent itinerant campers.

We have temporarily suspended all of our volunteer programs and community activities.

Events on the foreshore and bookings for Indented Head Community Hall are all suspended unless they comply with current Victorian Government guidelines on group size and service type.

Beach use regulations

As of 11.59pm on Tuesday 12 May 2020, all beaches between Point Richards and St Leonards are open for groups of up to 10 people provided you keep at least 1.5 metres between yourself and other people at all times. You cannot gather in groups of more than 10 people at any one time, and multiple groups of 10 people should not gather close by.

This is in accordance with Chief Health Officer Victoria and the Victorian Department of Health & Human Services requirements on public gatherings and social/physical distancing.

Holiday Park Closures

As of Monday, 1 June 2020 Portarlington Holiday Park will be open for guests following easing of restrictions by the Victorian Government. Some communal facilities (including toilet blocks, showers and kitchens) will remain closed which will limit some camping options.
