Bellarine Bayside would like to thank the community for the very high standard of submissions received in response to the exhibition of the draft dog orders for the northern Bellarine.
While the consultation process run by the City of Greater Geelong covered a range of broad issues relating to the management of dogs across the municipality, over 120 community submissions were received specific to the Northern Bellarine draft dog orders, including one large submission from the Woofers and Walkers Community Group with 866 signatures.
The consultation phase has provided us with a wealth of information from community members that is now being analysed. Using the information contained within the submissions, we expect to make amendments to the draft dog orders ensuring fair and equitable access to the coastal foreshore environment for all users, and to provide flexibility when taking into account local lifestyle preferences and the semi-rural character of the reserves.
Bellarine Bayside acknowledges the Wadawurrung People as the Traditional Custodians of the Bellawiyn land, waterways and skies, and we pay our respects to their Elders past, present and future. We recognise the unique ability of Wadawurrung People to care for Country and the intrinsic spiritual, cultural, economic, social and environmental connections they share with the land and waters. We are committed to partnering with Wadawurrung to achieve effective management of Country through self-determination.
Bellarine Bayside is committed to providing respectful and inclusive workplace, valuing the unique contributions, skills and perspectives of each individual. We are committed to providing a work environment free of discrimination and harassment.
