A series of fauna surveys will be undertaken at the Pt Richards Flora and Fauna Reserve over the coming months with the Geelong Field Naturalists Club. The first set of surveys will commence on Thursday 7 July. Small aluminium Elliott traps, which are specially designed to trap terrestrial vertebrates, will be installed throughout the Reserve and periodically checked over the study period. A tile grid survey will also be laid out at strategic locations to measure the abundance and diversity of reptile and amphibian species. The collected data will provide valuable information on the distribution and abundance of fauna species within the Reserve which will then be used to determine appropriate management actions. Bellarine Bayside would like to thank the Geelong Field Naturalists Club for their support.
