As many of you are aware from our social media posts, a large number of at risk trees were recently removed from the Portarlington Holiday Park. The removal works were completed well ahead of schedule which means that the landscaping plan and other additional works in this area will be completed well before Christmas.
Bellarine Bayside has laid turf in the affected area and will implement the landscape plan over the coming weeks. Thank you to everyone who provided very useful feedback, with the overwhelming number of people being very supportive.
We have also sealed Third and Second Avenues between Ramp Road and Whiting Drive meaning no more dusty or potentially muddy roads. So although we have lost some current shade due to the removal of these large trees, our overall priority was to increase the safety of campers by removing the risk of falling trees in strong winds that we experience quite frequently. The trees that we will plant will provide a high degree of shade once they grow.
