W.G. Little Reserve playground redevelopment

Bellarine Bayside are proud to announce that W.G. Little Reserve in Portarlington will soon be home to a new playground thanks to contributions from a range of funding bodies.

A primary funding partnership with the Portarlington & Drysdale Community Bank branches of the Bendigo Bank has contributed significant funding to make this project possible. This funding also includes the renaming of the playground to reflect the significant contribution of the Bendigo Bank.

Coupled with funds provided by Bellarine Bayside, invaluable funding support has also been provided by the Portarlington-Drysdale Lions Club, the City of Greater Geelong, Portarlington Mussel Festival, the Port Arts Network and the National Celtic Festival.

The new playground will replace the existing ageing playground which has served the community for almost 25 years. It has been designed with input from local children and will become a space where children experience ‘nature play’ as well as traditional play equipment, including swings, rockers, spinners and a flying fox. There will be art installations and play sculptures in a coastal environment theme, complemented by planting of a new native sheoak forest. Consideration has been given to play elements for a range of age groups and the inclusion of an adult fitness station.

Construction of the Portarlington & Drysdale Community Bank Play Space at W.G. Little Reserve is set to begin in winter 2019 with dismantling of the aged existing playground. Construction will be finished by September/October 2019.
