Portarlington Foreshore Café

Fantastically positioned, the location of the Portarlington foreshore café building provides expansive views across Port Phillip Bay nestled on the lower foreshore. The site is less than 100m from the Portarlington Pier which is a major drawcard for tourists, fishermen and passengers on the Portarlington Ferry service. It is also only a short walk down from the main shopping strip on Newcombe Street. Public toilets are provided adjacent to the site and extensive free public parking is provided immediately in front of the site, including disabled parking.

The building has had a long history as a food and beverage venue with multiple operators and is currently trading as Pier St.

Leasing opportunities

The current 5-year lease and accompanying licence area for outdoor dining will expire on
30 November 2024 and Bellarine Bayside is seeking to continue the service offer at the site through a new lease and licence.

Guided by the Leasing Policy for Victorian Crown Land 2023, Bellarine Bayside is conducting an Expression of Interest process for the future lease of the café site. The primary purpose of the building will be a café-restaurant or other similar food-related service with the opportunity to also conduct a tourism service related to the harbour as an ancillary function subject to negotiation with the Committee.

To submit an expression of interest, applicants must download the documentation below and follow the process detailed therein. Applicants must demonstrate their capacity to deliver the required services by providing the information requested in the documentation.

The EOI process is open from 18 June 2024, closing at AEST 4:00pm, 19 July 2024. Late submissions will not be accepted.

MANDATORY SITE INSPECTIONS

As per the EOI Information Document, site visits are mandatory for all applicants. Two dates and times have been nominated:

  • Wed 10 July 2024 at 10:00am
  • Thursday 11 July 2024 at 9:00am
